No personal abuse on Hacker News, please. Both are worked on by amd employees and others, using hardware documentation amd published. I saw a couple of other reports about i failing on Celeron or not supporting Bail Trail in the past Still, this does not alter thr fact that i supports most Intel Graphics and is, as you said, a very very good driver. Sticking with linux until I can see if I can get dragonfly working on my laptop. All times are GMT. If so, could you give me some pointers, googling and digging through the mailing lists hasn’t helped me much other than getting responses of “Buy an ATI card”, which I plan on doing, but until then I’m stuck with this card. Last but not least, very helpful team in IRC indeed, I really appreciate that. I’ve tried this with both FreeBSD XorNot on Mar 10, ssh has persistently gotten more and dragonvly annoying to use over the years especially with it’s non-sensical error messages when it’s checking file permissions. I don’t know if 1 applies to OpenBSD cragonfly not, but 2 doesn’t. What other operating system has a build. In many thread xragonfly that it sounded like Radeon support was pretty much loose and most of times AMD GPUs were discouraged, especially for 3D nvidiw, whereas Nvidia was suggested as better replacement.
In the end, like I said, there was no need for an open source driver although regardless dragonflj performance, I hate closed-source and in past I used nouveau on any platform, even FreeBSD in order to support volunteer porters. In case where multiple versions of a package are shipped with a distribution, only the default version appears in the table.

Would you mind giving a few examples where OpenBSD is lacking consistency or polish? Lots of reasons, nothing to do with feel-good or whatever else.

We even don’t have kernel modules, so they can’t be loaded. To me, as a developer I get the whole NIH thing. What about firmware binary blobs for a nic, or wifi that feature driver loadable firmwares? I have been using it in different computers for more than a year now, at home and at work, and my only two complaints would be 1 Hardware compatibility is very limited regarding wireless adapters of course you can work around just using ethernet which is faster and more stable anyway and 2 its implementation of the MATE desktop is humble and tends to cause trouble after package upgrades.

I run OpenBSD on one of my laptops, but if performance or compatibility are important factors, you might look at other tools for the job — the different BSDs have different strengths. Find all posts by roddierod. The KDE desktop is represented by the “plasma-desktop” package and the Xfce desktop by the “xfdesktop” package.
I do not want to sound rude but I would edit that part of your questions because you never know when such kind or Internet trail can hurt you.
Note that this is a “do-it-yourself” distro.

Nowadays, other than the odd ARM problem, or esoteric reversing challenge, everything is Linux. The team that won the Collegiate Cyber Defense Nationals last year did so with a firewall based on freebsd pfSense.
